Darmstadt, Gary

There is an increased visibility of the importance of gender inequality as an obstacle to health and development. Stanford is pioneering a first of its kind Lancet Series on the Next Generation of Gender Equality which will focus on gender equality and implications for health and development globally. There are five papers which are being developed for the Series, including ‘Paper 2: Unlocking Gender Norm Data’ in which we will use existing global survey data to explore links between gender norms and health outcomes for girls, boys, men, and women across the life course. The primary objective of this position will be to generate evidence for the ways in which gender (including gender norms, identity, and/or relations) and power structures that produce gender intersect with other dimensions of identity to influence individual practices, behaviors and attitudes, societal laws, which influence health outcomes.
