If Not You Then Who: Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

As researchers, imposter syndrome can creep into various stages of our process - in discussions with peers and advisors, in proposing and designing our projects, in data collection - but perhaps no stage of the process elicits more of a sense of being discovered as a fraud as writing. Writing is when we set about communicating ourselves and our work - and it's supposed finality is part of why it makes us so vulnerable. 

Stand Up and Stand Out: How to Present and Connect with Your Audience

This workshop will address the basic principles of effective speaking, focusing on preparation strategies and delivery techniques to enhance both the quality of your professional presentations and your general facility and confidence in oral expression. Specifically, we will discuss the organization and editing of materials, taking different audiences into account, as well as issues regarding vocal variety, nonverbal behavior, visual aids and speech anxiety.
