To advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, universities and employers now often request diversity statements from potential postdocs, fellows, and employees. This workshop aims to introduce the concept of a diversity statement, allowing participants to reflect on their understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Attendees will gain practical tips for crafting their own statements during the session.

Helping trainees build the skills and confidence to work more independently is an important part of a research mentoring relationship. In addition to providing guidance and advice, helping mentees grow as independent researchers requires an accurate assessment of their current abilities and level of understanding.
