In this interactive workshop, Dr. Heemstra will present on the topics of fear of failure and growth mindset, as they relate to laboratory research and undergraduate education. These topics are relevant to the success of postdoctoral scholars both as researchers themselves and as current and future teachers and mentors to students.

Dr. Heemstra leads a Chemistry research group at Emory University and is the PI of an NSF-funded nationwide Research Coordination Network that is specifically focused on harnessing fear of failure, growth mindset, and other intrapersonal factors to promote student success and retention in STEM.
