NPAW: Virtual Escape Room: CIA Taskforce

This event is part of series:

September 23, 2020 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

CAN YOU ESCAPE IN TIME? Form a group with family, friends, or labmates (non-postdocs welcome!) or sign up individually to take on “The Gamer,” the CIA’s most wanted assassin.

You wake up in a strange room with no memory of how you got there, along with the rest of your CIA investigative team, with a timer counting down the seconds. Can you figure out where you are and how to escape before The Gamer gets you? Watch the CIA Taskforce trailer!

Team Registration Details:

  1. Form a team of 5-6 (up to 10 possible, but more fun with fewer). Teams can be made up of Stanford postdocs and their family/partners/housemates, friends, labmates, etc., as long as there is at least 1 Stanford postdoc on the team, other teammates do not need to be postdocs or Stanford affiliates.
  2. Choose a team name before registering and a time slot to start the game (7:00pm, 7:15pm, 7:30pm, 7:45pm, 8:00pm, 8:15pm, 8:30pm, 8:45pm). When each player registers, they must include the team’s agreed-upon name and time slot.
  3. Everyone who is registered will receive an email with login details the day before the event.
  4. Everyone in the team should log in a few minutes before their agreed-upon time slot. Once everyone is logged in, the game master will let you into your room. One person will serve as team captain, sharing their screen for the whole team. Game play is around 1 hour, depending on how fast you get through the challenges.

Individual Registration Details:

Only Stanford postdocs and postdoc admins may register as individual players. You will receive login details the day before the event. You may log in anytime between 7:00pm-8:45pm to begin a game. You will be grouped with 4-5 other individual players into a game (note, you may have to wait for enough other individual players to log in to make up a full team). When you are in the escape room, you can play with the team or independently, though you cannot move through the challenges beyond the team captain (person sharing their screen). Game play is around 1 hour, depending on how fast your group gets through all of the challenges.
