Mentoring Lunches: Mentorship Without Burnout: Strategies for Sustainable Engagement

In Series:
April 27, 2026 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm
On Campus

Monday, April 27, 12:00pm-1:00pm, On Campus

As the summer research internship season approaches, many postdocs prepare to welcome a new cohort of enthusiastic students. While this "summer surge" brings curiosity and energy, it can also lead to significant mentor fatigue if not managed strategically.

This interactive workshop is designed to help postdocs transition from reactive to proactive mentoring. We will explore how to foster a supportive learning environment, establish healthy professional boundaries, streamline communication, and integrate mentee management into a high-performance research workflow without sacrificing personal well-being.

Participants will leave this workshop with concrete tools to mentor with intention, foster positive and productive relationships with their summer mentees, and maintain their own energy and effectiveness throughout the summer research season.

Facilitators: Chelse Spinner and Maryam Pourmaleki, Postdoc Peer Mentoring Coaches.

Mentoring Lunches are open to postdocs from all disciplines. Lunch will be provided.
