Tuesday, February 10, 12:00pm-1:00pm, On Campus
How can you effectively and respectfully align expectations, raise concerns, and advocate for yourself with your mentor or supervisor? This essential skill is often known as “mentoring up,” and involves learning to communicate effectively while being mindful of existing power dynamics.
In this session, you will learn how to prepare for difficult conversations with your supervisor and how to frame these conversations as collaborations. You will practice these skills by navigating real-life scenarios in a supportive, low-risk environment. These activities will help you build strategic frameworks and confidence to tackle pressing challenges in any mentoring relationship.
Facilitators: Anthony Venida and Debra Van Egeren, Postdoc Peer Mentoring Coaches.
Mentoring Lunches are open to postdocs from all disciplines. Lunch will be provided.
