Accent Reduction Winter

IV. Accent Reduction

Prerequisite: Oral Communication

Winter Session: Tuesdays, February 7 - March 14, 4:30pm-6:30pm

This class helps non-native speakers to recognize and practice American English sounds, stress, and intonation patterns in order to improve comprehension and intelligibility. This is accomplished through identification of problem areas, focused practice and recording of exercises for instructor feedback.

Emphasis is on increasing confidence and fluency through realistic activities both in and out of class covering pronunciation, idiom and slang usage, active listening skills, and conversation strategies.

II: Professional & Academic Writing

Prerequisite: Oral Communication

Fall Session: Mondays, October 17 - November 28 (no class 11/21), 5:00pm-7:00pm

This  course on academic writing for publication focuses on learning to write coherently, clearly, and concisely. It will also include some practice in writing effective emails, letters, and short proposals. The course includes two 30-minute individual tutorials with the instructor.

Team Science

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) invites you to attend two in-person Team Science workshops on Thursday, April 7, 2022.

Attendees can select to participate in the morning session (9am-12pm), Introduction to Team Science, or the morning session followed by an interactive session in the afternoon (2pm-4pm), Developing Your Identity as a Team Leader.
