Vocal Yoga

Wednesdays, January 31, February 7 & 14, 10:00am-11:00am, In-person

Vocal Yoga is a 3-part voice workshop designed to help you get your voice in shape for public speaking. Learn about breath, relaxation, and focus; practice simple exercises to build confidence and turn stress into clear, powerful speech.

Vocal Yoga consists of three sessions:

Professional & Academic Writing Winter

II: Professional & Academic Writing

Prerequisite: Oral Communication

Winter Session: Thursdays, February 8 - March 14, 5:00pm-7:00pm

This  course on academic writing for publication focuses on learning to write coherently, clearly, and concisely. It will also include some practice in writing effective emails, letters, and short proposals. The course includes two 30-minute individual tutorials with the instructor.

Accent Reduction Winter

IV. Accent Reduction

Prerequisite: Oral Communication

Winter Session: Tuesdays, February 6 - March 12, 4:30pm-6:30pm

This class helps non-native speakers to recognize and practice American English sounds, stress, and intonation patterns in order to improve comprehension and intelligibility. This is accomplished through identification of problem areas, focused practice and recording of exercises for instructor feedback.

Emphasis is on increasing confidence and fluency through realistic activities both in and out of class covering pronunciation, idiom and slang usage, active listening skills, and conversation strategies.
