Postdoctoral Fellow – Motor Systems Neuroscience and Neural Plasticity
The Neural Systems & Neurovascular Diseases Laboratory in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate the neural circuit mechanisms underlying motor control, neural plasticity, and functional recovery following stroke.
The successful candidate will lead innovative research projects aimed at understanding how motor circuits are organized, function, and reorganize following injury. Our laboratory integrates state-of-the-art approaches in neural circuit tracing and manipulation, high-density in vivo electrophysiology using Neuropixels probes, and quantitative motor behavioral analysis to uncover the circuit mechanisms of motor recovery and identify novel strategies to enhance neuroplasticity.
- Applicants should hold a PhD or MD/PhD in neuroscience, neurobiology, neuroengineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Strong research background in systems neuroscience, motor control, neural circuit organization, or neuroplasticity, with a demonstrated record of scientific productivity.
- Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: viral-mediated neural circuit tracing and manipulation, in vivo electrophysiology, or quantitative motor behavioral analysis.
- Candidates should demonstrate scientific independence, strong analytical skills, and the ability to design and execute rigorous experimental studies.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV), including publications and relevant research experience.
- Cover letter describing the applicant's research background, technical expertise, scientific interests, and motivation for joining the laboratory.
- Contact information for three references who can comment on the applicant's research experience and qualifications.
