Does this position pay above the required minimum?: 
No. The expected base pay for this position is the Stanford University required minimum for all postdoctoral scholars appointed through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. The FY27 minimum is $79, 056.

The Becker Lab at Palo Alto VA and Stanford University invites applications for a NIH-sponsored postdoctoral position.  We seek highly creative and motivated scientists with a background in immunology, metabolism and/or neuroscience.  The laboratory studies the gut-liver and gut-brain axis focusing on the interplay between metabolism and gut immune cells, the enteric nervous system (ENS) and the microbiota in health and disease.  We are particularly interested in how alterations to ENS macrophages in aging and neurodegenerative diseases contribute to disruption of gastrointestinal motility.  We use well-established mouse models and human gut tissue to address these questions.

Required Qualifications: 

• Experience in molecular and cell biology techniques, preferably in single cell sorting (FACS) and analysis, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy.

• Expertise in metabolomics with mass spectrometry is desired.
• Strong general computer skills, experience with databases and scientific applications, and ability to quickly learn and master various computer programs.
• A PhD, MD or equivalent with prior relevant training in Immunology, Biology, Physiology, Biochemistry or related field.
