Does this position pay above the required minimum?: 
No. The expected base pay for this position is the Stanford University required minimum for all postdoctoral scholars appointed through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. The FY25 minimum is $76,383.

The Mueller Laboratory at Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate mechanisms driving stromal pathology in rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune conditions. Our laboratory utilizes cutting-edge approaches in immunology, genomics, and regenerative medicine to understand the role of stromal cells in autoimmunity and develop novel therapeutic strategies. 

The fellow will work at the intersection of stromal cell biology, tissue regeneration, and autoimmune disease, with unique translational research opportunities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop an independent research project utilizing innovative techniques including cell culture and organoid systems, single-cell analyses, and disease models. 

Responsibilities will include: leading independent research projects investigating stromal cell biology in autoimmune disease, developing and implementing innovative experimental approaches, collaborating with team members and other research groups, contributing to grant proposals, mentoring junior trainee, presenting research findings, preparing manuscripts, and participating in laboratory meetings and other scientific seminars.

Required Qualifications: 
  • PhD or MD/PhD, with expertise in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, or bioinformatics.
  • Demonstrated record of productive research and publications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are currently completing the last year of their PhD or graduated from their PhD program in the past year.
