This lecture will focus on teaching as new faculty scientists.

Dr. Sheri Sheppard, Professor of Engineering, teaching both undergraduate and graduate design-related classes, conducts research on fracture mechanics and applied finite element analysis, and leads the Designing Education Lab in the School of Engineering. She has served as a Senior Scholar at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, led or co-led large, multi-institutional projects to build education research programs and resources, including the Center of the Advancement of Engineering Education (CAEE) and the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter), and here at Stanford she has been awarded the Walter J. Gores Award, Stanford's highest award for excellence in teaching, among other accolades.  **PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME out of respect for the speaker.*
