AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships support scientists and engineers with a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to national or international issues in the federal policy realm, while learning first-hand about establishing and implementing policy. This is a year-long opportunity, beginning September 1 and ending August 31. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

ACLS Public Fellows Program is a new initiative that places recent PhDs in two-year staff positions with partnering agencies in government and the non-profit sector beginning as early as September 2011. Fellows will participate in the substantive work of these agencies and receive professional mentoring. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and at the same level as new professional employees of the hosting agency and will include health insurance, ranging from $50,000 to $78,000.

American Academy of Arts & Sciences Visiting Scholars Program supporting untenured junior faculty and postdoctoral students interested in pursuing research related to one of the Academy's four core program areas: Humanities and Culture, Social Policy and American Institutions, Science and Global Security, and Education. A stipend of up to $60,000 for junior faculty and up to $40,000 for postdoctoral scholars accompanies the award. Through this program, the Academy offers scholars a year for research and writing free from teaching and administrative duties, a collaborative work environment, and the opportunity to interact with the Academy membership, including leaders from every field and discipline. Scholars also have access to local library and archival resources, and opportunities to engage in seminars at neighboring institutions.

Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Postdoctoral Research Award
through the US Department of Energy support EERE's mission in energy efficiency and renewable energy by offering recent Ph.D. recipients the opportunity to conduct applied research at universities, national laboratories, and other research facilities. The objective of the EERE Postdoctoral Research Awards is to create the next generation of scientific leaders in energy efficiency and renewable energy by attracting the best scientists and engineers to pursue breakthrough technologies in a highly prestigious postdoctoral research program. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a number of postdoctoral fellowships for Germans and citizens of other countries to conduct research in the United States and in Germany in a number of disciplines and research areas. Opportunities include short-term fellowships and grants, and language courses in addition to multiple-year postdoctoral research fellowships.
IIASA-Funded Postdoctoral Program, provides full funding for two postdoctoral researchers each year. Scholars are expected to conduct their own research within one of IIASA's research programs or special projects on topics closely related to IIASA's agenda.

International Postdoctoral Scholarships in Biomedical Research (Paediatric and Maternal)
The Postdoctoral Scholarships for Excellence offered by the Sainte-Justine UCH Foundation presented by the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Research Center enable future postdoctoral students from all over the world to carve out a niche for themselves among investigators who enjoy international acclaim, in the 1st mother-child center in Canada and 4th in North America. Three CAD$150,000 scholarships for three years will be awarded along with CAD$15,000 seed funding in the first year. A functional understanding of English or French is required. The Junior Research Fellowship at Trinity College - Cambridge: Open to men and women of exceptional intellectual caliber, for whom the fellowship would be their first substantial paid academic or research appointment, an opportunity to pursue research for up to four years. The Fellowships are available in all branches of University studies.
UNCF/MERCK Postdoctoral Science Research Fellowships: Awards up to $85,000 for stipend and research expenses, covering 12-24 months of training for African American US citizens or permanent residents. Postdoctoral Fellows receive mentoring by a Merck scientist and membership in the Association of UNCF/Merck Fellows. National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program (CPFP): The Program offers an opportunity to obtain an M.P.H. degree at an accredited university during the first year, followed by mentored research with investigators at the NCI. Research opportunities exist across the spectrum of cancer prevention research, including: epidemiology, biostatistics, clinical services, laboratory, nutritional, and social and behavioral sciences.
