Travel Fellowship Summary:
The Henzl-Gabor Travel Fellowships is open to currently appointed Postdoctoral Research Scholars in the School of Medicine and School of Humanities & Sciences who have demonstrated a positive attitude through professional teamwork and collaborations of men and women to help with their travel: airline tickets, accommodations, and registration expenses for participation at scientific conferences. These awards are meant to help defray the costs of attending a national or international meeting for travel taking place during December 1, 2009 - November 30, 2010.
Eligibility & Funding:
Applicants must have completed an MD or PhD degree within the past six years of fund application submission. Awards may be given in amounts up to $2,000 based on the detailed expenses submitted. Total awards given and funding levels may vary depending on the size and strength of the applicant pool. Applicants must be US Citizens, permanent residents or naturalized citizens and already be appointed in a postdoc position by the application deadline.
Awards will not be made on a retroactive basis (i.e. for meetings attended prior to
December 1, 2009).
Research & Scientific Activities:
Research and scientific activities of applicants should be in the areas of human biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or medicine. A preference shall be given to applicants working on research involving oncology, specifically mechanisms of tumor growth, development of metastases, and the effects of nutrition on development of neoplastic processes. When all of the above conditions have been fully satisfied, young women applicants of Czech ancestry will be given special consideration.
