Fellowships for Postdoctoral Scholars

Internal Fellowships and Travel Grants available through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs are:

  • Dean's Fellowship
  • Katherine McCormick Fellowship
  • Walter V. and Idun Berry Postdoctoral Fellowship
  • Henzl-Gabor Fellowship

These fellowships are widely advertised when the application is available.

   The Dean's Fellowships are open for application in autumn and spring. The purpose of the Dean's fellowships is to encourage and support young investigators for the first one or two years of postdoctoral (PhD or MD) research training. Dean's postdoctoral fellowships are awarded to full-time scholars who are appointed in the School of Medicine and work in labs in the School of Medicine or PAVAMC.

   The Katherine McCormick Travel and Fellowship Awards are available to men and womrn in the School of Medicine.There are two application types: Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards & Travel Grants for junior faculty (Instructors or Assistant Professors), postdoctoral scholars and MD, PhD, or MD/PhD and graduate students.
All awards begin on or after September 1 for the academic year.

   The Walter V. and Idun Berry Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards accept applications in mid July of each year. Applications are invited from postresidency or postdoctoral trainees in the clinical or basic medical sciences who wish to advance and expand understanding of children's health and disease as defined in the broadest sense. The Berrys had as their stated preference that the fellowships "be used to enhance research which utilizes the most advanced technologies and methodologies available to improve the health and wellness of children, including the latest opportunities in molecular and genetic medicine."

The Henzl-Gabor Travel Fellowship is accepting applications to currently appointed Postdoctoral Research Scholars with research and science activities in the areas of Human Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology or medicine and who have demonstrated a positive attitude through professional teamwork and collaborations of men and women.
