Alexandria Boehm at Stanford University is searching for a post doctoral researcher to oversee research related to the use of environmental DNA or RNA (eDNA or eRNA) for coastal biodiversity assessments. The post doc will be stationed at Stanford University in the department of civil and environmental engineering or the department of oceans and carry out laboratory measurements to better understand the persistence and sources of eDNA and eRNA in the environment, and how their concentrations relate to densities of organisms (both vertebrate and invertebrates). An ideal candidate will know how to use QPCR and / or droplet digital PCR and have experience with amplicon sequencing.

We conduct research projects on the epidemiology of all urologic cancers with a particular focus on Kidney cancer. Kidney cancer incidence rates have steadily grown since the 1990s, with kidney cancer becoming the sixth and ninth most diagnosed cancer for men and women respectively in the US.  Kidney cancer, often detected incidentally by imaging, is an often-understudied neoplasm in cancer epidemiology research. Kidney cancer represents the deadliest urological neoplasm and has a dismal late-stage 5-year survival rate.  The goal of this postdoctoral program is to conduct high-quality epidemiological research in the field of urological cancers with a special emphasis on kidney cancer epidemiology (including prevention and screening, control, etiology, health disparities, treatment, and survivorship).  Research will be accomplished through an immersive program designed to provide fellows with the methodology, clinical exposure, and track record of productivity to succeed.
