The Karakikes lab is a basic and translational cardiovascular research group investigating the molecular basis of genetic and acquired cardiomyopathies. Our lab integrates new technologies, including CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)  to better understand the pathogenesis of familial cardiomyopathies. We are particularly interested in gene mutations associated with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and are currently using single-cell transcriptomics and proteomics  to better understand the mechanisms that contribute to familial DCM and develop novel therapeutic approached. We are seeking a highly collaborative postdoctoral fellow with a background in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry and/or proteomics and an interest in cardiovascular diseases. The Stanford University School of Medicine provides a superlative training opportunities at the post-doctoral level in a highly stimulating and interactive environment.
