We do too.

We are looking for 1-2 highly motivated and creative postdocs to develop several exciting projects in the lab of Dr. Boris Heifets MD PhD in the Department of Anesthesiology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Our lab is situated in an unparalleled intellectual environment, sharing space, resources and meetings with the labs of Drs. Robert Malenka, Thomas Sudhof & Lu Chen.
Lab projects are focused on the neural circuitry and pharmacology of MDMA and ketamine, and the mechanisms underlying Deep Brain Stimulation. We have active collaborations with the Departments of Psychiatry, Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery. We primarily use rodent behavioral models, behavioral pharamacology, optogenetics, in vivo calcium imaging, and whole brain imaging techniques. Our involvement in clinical trials at Stanford University Hospital exploring ketamine's antidepressant mechanism and other anesthetics' mechanisms also offer exciting opportunities for new project development.

Required Qualifications: 
  • The ideal candidate has an MD and/or PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology or quantitative biology.
  • Experience with rodents is required.
  • Excellent analytical skills, e.g. python & Matlab, are strongly preferred.
  • The successful candidate should be able to work independently and be willing to collaborate with multiple research and clinical groups within our world-class institution.
