Applications are now being solicited for support from the Katherine McCormick Fund to support women in medical careers for the academic year 2011-2012. Eligible applicants must be men or women pursuing careers in academic medicine at Stanford University, School of Medicine (SoM).
Travel awards are used to defray registration, accommodation and airline expenses for attending scientific, educational or professional meetings and will be awarded to male or female postdoctoral research scholars. The Katherine McCormick Postdoctoral Fellowship Committee will hold its fellowship and grants selection meeting in late July.
Postdoctoral scholars may receive only one award during their time at Stanford University. Former applicants that were not selected may resubmit new applications in future award cycles.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Only individuals who are currently appointed as Postdoctoral Scholars in the School of Medicine are eligible to apply.
2. The applicant may be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or foreign national. Foreign scholars must be holders of J1 visas; holders of H1B, TN, O-1 or other visas are ineligible.
3. The scholar's faculty mentor must have a primary appointment in the School of Medicine. Acting, consulting and courtesy faculty are not eligible.Selection Criteria:
The Katherine McCormick Postdoctoral Travel Grant selection committee assigns priority scores to applications based on the following criteria:
1. qualifications
2. career track
3. individuals who encourage or support (through professional association) the advancement of women in medicine and/or medical research
3. individuals mentoring a woman, through professional association, for career development

Letters of Recommendation: A Letter of Recommendation from your faculty mentor. The letter should address the value of the conference to your training and/or career development. Submission of recommendation letter must be in a secure, sealed envelope for submission with his/her application or sent directly to the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. |
