In category: Research University Alliance

With the support of the National Science Foundation’s Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) program the Research University Alliance (RUA) officially launched in October 2020. The RUA is made up of a nine-university partnership that includes UC Berkeley, Caltech, Georgia Tech, Harvard University,  University of Michigan,  Stanford University, UC Los Angeles, University of Texas at Austin, and University of Washington.

RUA focuses on the advancement of advanced graduate students and postdoctoral scholars from backgrounds underrepresented in academia who are pursuing academic careers in mathematics, physical sciences, earth and environmental sciences, and engineering. Underrepresented groups include, but are not limited to: African Americans, Chicanx/Latinx, Native Americans, Native Alaskans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, Filipinos, Vietnamese, those with disabilities, those from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, first generation college-goers, veterans, and/or  those underrepresented on the basis of gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. RUA’s goal is to diversify the future professoriate nationally by creating robust professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities.

The following professional development opportunities are open to all RUA-eligible students at postdocs at the 9 alliance institutions.
