New Postdoc Salary Policy Effective October 1, 2007 (PDF file)

The University Provost establishes minimum pay levels based on the years of cumulative research experience a Postdoctoral Scholar has when appointed. The minimum annual pay for first-year scholars for upcoming 2007-2008 academic year (autumn through summer) is $39,216.

When determining pay rates for Postdoctoral Scholars, years and months of research experience should be based on postdoctoral research worked at Stanford University or other institutions. For MDs the years of concentrated research listed on the curriculum vitae may be used; internship and residencies do not count for research years.

New Postdoc Salary Policy effective October 1, 2007

  • Postdoc salaries/stipends will be reviewed once annually on October 1st (coincident with the announcement of each year’s annual salary guidelines).
  • There will no longer be an anniversary adjustment.
  • Stanford will publish a new table of postdoc salary/stipend guidelines each year (based on Provost’s approval) reflecting university minimums for years of postdoctoral research experience.

Minimum pay rates for all scholars are reviewed and updated annually and are made effective each autumn. All Scholars must be paid at the new rates.
