Postdoctoral scholars are registered with the University. The sponsoring department will forward a complete appointment package to the Office of Postdoctoral Services, who will see that the scholar is then admitted into PeopleSoft, the student computer database on campus. Entry into the database is usually completed before the scholar arrives.
Registration is mandatory for scholars and ensures the following privileges:
receipt
of a Stanford I.D. card and its attendant privileges
access
to all libraries and campus facilities
eligibility
for loan deferments
coverage
by University liability insurance
eligibility
for campus housing (although it should be noted that this is extremely
rare, as scholars receive a low priority in the Stanford housing
system except for Campus West housing).
You should access your record through AXESS. Here scholars should report both their local address and telephone number in order to receive School and University mailings. (Your department should also be notified of any changes in contact information.)
