ReappointmentsEach subsequent year of reappointment requires a reappointment letter, (which is new for 2003-2004). The wording must be followed in the template. The letter will be co-signed by the sponsor and scholar and a copy sent to the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. Extension of Registration AuthorizationsThe normal maximum length of time a postdoctoral scholar is expected to be at Stanford is up to five years, including combined training from all institutions. Prior approval is needed from the Assistant Dean in the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, before a scholar may extend beyond the four-year authorized Stanford training period. This request must come from the faculty sponsor and include the reason for the continued training and estimated length of stay. The length of stay may be shorter if the total research experience of the scholar is at or over five years. University policy requires that post-doctoral researchers have no more than five years of research experience to remain a postdoctoral scholar. Appointments at less than 100%Scholars are considered full-time trainees. Any appointment for less than 100% FTE must have the approval of the Assistant Dean from the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. This request comes from the faculty sponsor. |
