CAP Extended for Use by Postdoctoral Scholars
The Community Academic Profiles (CAP) system has expanded its support for faculty and researchers to include profiles for all active postdoctoral scholars in the University. As a searchable and heavily used online collection of profiles, the CAP system provides an important window into the innovative work taking place at Stanford, helps to promote collaboration with scientists worldwide, and consistently receives high rankings in Google.
With these online profiles, post-docs can now easily update and publish information about academic activities, research interests, publications, photos and a number of additional important categories of information. The CAP system also automatically imports publications from pubmed into the profile owner’s in-box and will send you notification to approve the publications for publishing on your profile. This prevents the need to manually enter information about your various publications. New scholars will be added to the CAP system within 30 days of their affiliation with Stanford, and separating scholars will become inactive in CAP upon appointment termination.
Basic information on each scholar, such as academic appointments, faculty advisor and professional education, has been imported into CAP. Once in the system, postdocs will be able to access their profile and add additional information such as research interests, honors and awards, a photo and much more.
Another important feature of CAP is the ability for a profile to be incorporated into any (and multiple) School of Medicine website. You can easily create a link to your profile so that it displays within the context of a departmental site. See how.
To access your profile go to http://med.stanford.edu/profiles/, and click on the "Update Your Profile" link in the left navigation. Online resources is available at the CAP help page.
If you have any questions about the system or run into any trouble updating your profile we, at IRT, are happy to assist. Please submit a ticket using http://webhelp.stanford.edu/.
